Kuwait Meteorological Department said the rainfall in Kuwait November 2018 exceeded twice that of the year 1997, reports Al-Jarida daily. The daily added, November 2018 recorded 261 mm, while in 1997 it was about 114 mm.

Life in Kuwait had come to a standstill for three days following the unusually heavy downpour .


The deluge flooded tunnels, bridges and roads, and damaged buildings in residential areas and vehicles.


The failure of sewage systems led to several cars being swept away.



Officials of varied specializations including financial, engineering and insurance agree that the estimated value of the losses resulting from the 2018 torrential rains in the country was about KD 300 million, reports Al- Qabas daily.




The incident resulted in the resignation of Minister of Public Affairs & Director-General of Public Authority of Roads & Transportation
